$150,000 over 24 months for promotion and refinement of Books@Work, a program that partners colleges and companies to bring faculty-led liberal arts experiences to adults in workplace and community settings. Weekly seminars guide participants through readings that enable them to investigate essential questions, explore diverse perspectives, and inspire them to find their voice. The model incorporates mixed cohorts that include front-line workers, clerical staff, and supervisors in cross-hierarchical and cross-functional programs. By blending these groups, participants are encouraged to “leave their positions at the door” and engage with each other as individuals as well as colleagues.
That Can Be Me aims to strengthen its work in three areas: communications and outreach, evidence-based curriculum development, and community programming. These efforts will promote greater reach across companies, refine and enhance learning principles and develop differentiated approach to a wide variety of organizational contexts, and deepen program growth and quality.
