Teagle Foundation Announces $600,000 Grant for hurricane relief efforts at Dillard and Tulane
New York, NY (December 5, 2005) – The Teagle Foundation today announced a $600,000 grant to assist in hurricane recovery efforts at Dillard University and Tulane University in New Orleans. The bulk of the grant, $500,000, will go to Dillard University to help students return to New Orleans and to their studies. Dillard University is a historically black institution that the Teagle Foundation has supported in the past, and was hit particularly hard by hurricane Katrina.
The Teagle Foundation also made a $100,000 grant to Tulane University, which also sustained damage from the recent hurricanes. Tulane has formed a partnership with Dillard and two other New Orleans institutions to further their collective recovery. Tulane will help Dillard specifically by providing classroom space, library access, other facilities, and courses (when space is available) for students.
