$90,000 over 12 months to support “SEO-Skidmore Connections.” At the core of the partnership model is a 5-week summer residential credit-bearing college experience in a supportive and academically rigorous environment. Ten SEO students enroll in Skidmore College’s summer Pre-College Program, signing up for one writing seminar course as well as a second course (in the humanities, social sciences, studio arts, or natural sciences). In addition to course work, students experience sessions on academic advising and college admissions, and are presented with opportunities to attend cultural events on campus, including lectures, readings, films, concerts, art exhibits. During the academic year, Skidmore faculty travel to New York City to join the entire SEO class for two weekend lectures. During the grant period, SEO and Skidmore will also work toward sustainability planning for the future of their collaboration.
