Grant Summary

$300,000 over 18 months to support a project that involves creating a high-quality and rigorous general education core curriculum that shows the relevance of the liberal arts for students’ professional aspirations. The first prong of this project is supporting Rio Grande Valley faculty in developing the “Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences in Context” (HASS) general education component of the core curriculum for their professional degree program in Biomedical Sciences. The second prong of this project is making available system-wide curricular resources developed through this project. This project provides an opportunity to demonstrate that curricular coherence can make a meaningful difference in success for historically underrepresented students.
