Grant Summary

$398,000 over 36 months for a grant to four partner institutions in which they will build on their prior Teagle planning grant to integrate the liberal arts in engineering curricula. The curricular redesign will occur in the context of launching Grand Challenges Scholars Programs (GCSP) under the aegis of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).The first year will involve liberal arts and engineering faculty revising engineering courses to integrate disciplinary content as part of the process of creating competitive proposals to earn GCSP designation from the NAE. In the second and third years, the curriculum redesign will be enacted along with the other requirements for GCSP designation. Dissemination of the curricular models developed by each campus, along with related tools and assessment findings, will be disseminated through NAE’s network of engineering schools, the Association of Independent Technological Universities, and the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
