Grant Summary
$275,000 over 36 months to implement the Cornerstone program model on the campuses of both Oxford College and Emory College. At Oxford College, sections of the first-year Discovery Seminar, taught by students’ faculty advisors, will now be organized in clusters and share at least three texts in common. These courses will serve as a springboard to sequences of thematically organized general education courses. At Emory College, subsets of the First-Year Seminar will be organized around a common syllabus. Students will then have the opportunity to pursue a core-text stream through general education, taking designated sections of courses that emphasize engagement with transformative texts.
