Grant Summary

$300,000 over 24 months to implement a revised gateway humanities sequence and a track through general education that will result in a certificate program in Applied Humanities. The certificate program includes a set of courses under the heading “Applied Humanities” that encourages critical engagement with Puerto Rican humanities crises, while linking STEM and cultural questions in ways that incentivize continuing Humanities studies as a part of preprofessional training. This pathway through General Education thus encourages a STEM-inflected experience that integrates humanities questions into the students’ career preparation, while fulfilling requisite General Education credits and earning credits toward a certificate.
