Grant Summary

$25,000 over 12 months to create a two-course sequence called The Pursuit consisting of GEN 1200: First-Year Seminar in the fall and HUM 2000: Transformative Texts in the spring. GEN 1200 will share a set of foundational texts across participating sections and aim to provide students with a broader intellectual awareness of the humanities tradition. Students will select a second semester course, HUM 2000, organized thematically around transformative texts related to one of several ‘areas of emphasis:’ Business, Environmental and Natural Sciences, and Health Sciences and Human Performance. Catawba will scale up to serving at least 25 percent of the incoming class by the implementation grant period.
