Grant Summary
$300,000 over 42 months to Biola University to give underserved high school seniors from Los Angeles an opportunity to participate in a two-week consecutive humanities seminar and a school-year civic engagement program. After a rigorous 12-month planning process, Biola University is prepared to implement all the components of the Knowledge for Freedom initiative, including a rigorous academic seminar, college application support, and an opportunity to return to campus during the year to complete a public service project. Biola also brings unique assets to the Knowledge for Freedom model by focusing on the opportunity of first-generation college students to serve as writing tutors, mentors, and activity leaders throughout the program.
