Grant Summary

$25,000 over 5 months to support a planning grant for four SUNY campuses. The grant will be used to explore curricular integration of the liberal arts in business, education, engineering, and nursing, alongside capacity-building for experiential learning. As part of the planning process, faculty representing the disciplines and the professions will come together to identify current upper-division course offerings that can be revised using a “common problem” approach, whereby a real-world problem put forward by a community partner is studied from multidisciplinary perspectives and subsequently addressed by students through team projects. Deliverables from the planning grant, including a faculty guidebook on the “common problems” approach, will be disseminated SUNY-wide to all 64 campuses through the system provost’s office.
