Warrior-Scholar Project

Grant Summary

$150,000 over 24 months for a grant to double the number of participants served by academic boot camps run by the Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) at the University of Michigan and Harvard University. The boot camps, aimed at enlisted military veterans, expose participants to high caliber institutions to give them a sense of what is possible while also equipping them with tools to help them succeed as college students. Boot camp topics concentrate on the modern foundation of democracy, which seeks to make relevant connections to participants’ military service while creating space for broader academic discussions beyond that experience. Professors located at the host site work alongside writing instructors, current student-veterans and other mentors to lead students through the program.
