The Foundation works to strengthen teaching and learning in the arts and sciences through grants that support concrete changes in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and faculty professional development that ultimately improve and enliven the educational experience of undergraduate students. Grants in 2015-2016 were made nationally to colleges and universities, higher education consortia, disciplinary associations, and other relevant organizations under our initiatives, "Liberal Arts and the Professions", "Hybrid Learning and the Residential Liberal Arts Experience", "Faculty Planning and Curricular Coherence", "A Larger Vision: Education for Civic and Moral Responsibility", "Graduate Student Teaching in the Arts and Sciences" as well as for special projects and dissemination support. Place-based grants were also made under our College-Community Connections program to support partnerships between community-based organizations and colleges and universities in New York and help young people from under-resourced high schools prepare for and successfully pursue a liberal arts education. We also convened our grantees and field experts to help ensure that our grantmaking is responsive to their needs and that our grantees have an opportunity to learn from each others’ good work.

*Note: The Foundation has shifted the timing of annual reports to coincide with its fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). To account for this transition, the listing of grants below reflects those issued in the full calendar year 2015 (January 1-December 31, 2015) and the overlapping fiscal year (July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016).
